Man sexually assaults youth in Rotorua park

Fri 25 Jan 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

Kuirau Park Rotorua police are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a young man in Rotorua's Kuirau Park. The assault on the 17-year old happened last Monday around 1pm outside the public toilets which are adjacent to the thermal pool area. Kuirau Park has for many years been a notorious cruising area for gay and bi men looking for sex but it has also been the scene of a number of violent incidents including the murder last year of gay man Roman Skorek. That killing was allegedly triggered by Skorek looking at the clothed crotch of a younger man he was drinking with. The alleged attacker in Monday's incident was described as fair skinned, about 188cm tall and of lanky build, clean shaven and aged in his 40s. Police investigating the case are eager to hear from anyone with information which might help their enquiries. They can be contacted on (07) 348 0099.
