Homosexual Law Reform

The Homosexual Law Reform Act was partially passed by the New Zealand Parliament on 9 July 1986 after 16-months of heated nationwide debate. It decriminalized homosexual acts between men and set the scene for later law changes around discrimination and recognition of same-sex partners.

An excellent taste of attitudes and activities during 1985-86 can be found in the Radio Gala retrospective programme.
