It's time to rifle though your bookshelves and DVD stacks to help share the wisdom you have found in queer books and movies with the younger glbt generation. Rainbow Youth was the recipient of a grant of $1,000 from The GABA Charitable Trust to help replenish its library and now it's your turn to get involved by donating new or good condition books and DVDs. The queer youth support group's Executive Director Tom Hamilton says the books and DVDs generously donated to the GABA Book Drive will be entered into the Rainbow Youth library and young people will be able to borrow books and watch DVDs at the centre. "The Library and DVDs at Rainbow Youth are constantly utilised by young people, they enjoy reading glbt fiction and nonfiction, some students utilise the library for research purposes, DVDs are used during groups and some of our members like to take time out to come to the centre to watch a movie during the week," Hamilton says. "And don't worry if you think we may have already received a copy of a book you are donating. Rainbow Youth are committed to sharing the resources we already have copies of with groups in the Pacific and Asia who we meet at the Outgames in Wellington in March 2011." You'll find a list of the books and DVD that Rainbow Youth is looking for below and as you'll see, many of the books may well be in on your shelves. You may also have some other books or DVDs that aren't on the list that you think may be good for the Rainbow Youth library so feel free to bring them along. If you can help by donating a book or DVD, bring it along to the GABA/NZAF VIP Hospitality Tent at the Big Gay Out on Sunday 13th February where a box will be provided. You can also take donated books and DVDs straight to the Rainbow Youth stall.
