Carols in the city

Wed 8 Dec 2010 In: Our Communities View at NDHA

Auckland Community Church and St Matthew in the City have a carol service next Sunday night at 7:30. We have had this combined carol service annually since 2006, so this is the 5th anniversary. It will be a service of Bible and contemporary readings; carols, choral and organ music. There will be music by Bach, of course, well known and less well known carols, including a traditional French melody, the carol about the three wise men refers to a parade of heroes. As well there will be a composition by Auckland composer David Hamilton, who has also written songs for the Gay and Lesbian Singers. Every year all the money collected is given to a community charity, such as Rainbow Youth in previous years. This year it will be for Body Positive. This year we have marked the 30th anniversary of Auckland Community Church meeting in St Matthew in the City, and there will be a celebratory supper for the evening.
