Police have reported the death of a Hamilton man facing charges of stupefying and sexually assaulting two other men. The man's body was found at a Waikato prison. Police are not seeking anyone in relation with the death. He had appeared in court to face two counts of abduction, two accounts of stupefying and five counts of sexual violation. It is understood a third complainant has come forward regarding an incident in which a 25-year old man was kidnapped for several hours and raped on November 1st, around the same time the two attacks the man was charged over occurred. He is the second man in recent times to die in custody awaiting court appearances connected with the nature of his sexual contact with other men. Just before last Christmas Auckland man Glenn Mills died in Mt Eden remand prison whilst accused of knowingly exposing fourteen young people, mostly young gay men, to HIV. He was facing more charges when he died. The police said at the time there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mills' death. In 2003 Auckland restaurateur Philip Sturm was jailed after being convicted of six charges of sexual violation and stupefaction against four men aged in their 20s.
