Matthew Mitcham Gay diver Matthew Mitcham has missed out on a Commonwealth gold medal after being beaten in his favoured event by 16-year-old English diver Tom Daley. Mitcham and Daley were on level pegging but a poor final dive from the Australian cost him any chance of winning. "I knew that I blew it, that I gave it away, which I didn't really want to do," Mitcham said of his final dive. "I was so close to winning and I knew that if I did a good dive I could win, but I did a bad dive and lost it. "I did not dive even close to my best today and if I had of it would have been really exciting. "If I had of, I could have smashed it but I didn't." Daley's dives included an inward three-and-a-half somersault that earned perfect 10s across the board. Mitcham will return home to Australia with four silver medals from Delhi.
