Wayne Nicholas with Miss Gloriousole Nominations are already flooding in for the Wigs on the Waterfront (WotW) Awards night, which will be held at Auckland's Maritime Museum on June 6. Organiser Wayne Nicholas says the event has been created not only to honour the best entertainers, but also to pay tribute to the many tireless volunteers who are working their fingers to the bone across the nation's gay communities. "A lot of people have given a lot of time to wigs and community fundraising. We wanted to honour those people," he says. "There are so many volunteers who put their hands up without even being asked and they need to be recognised." A number of special awards will be handed out on the night.  The categories where public nominations are being called for are; Best Drag Performer, Best Hair have tried to keep the ticket price down, bearing in mind that there have been so many events already this year. "However, we also wanted to offer people something a little different to celebrate not only the 10th anniversary, but to recognize all the fabulous performers, and volunteers, who have supported us, and the community, over the years." Single tickets to the WotW Awards are $35, while tables of ten are also on sale. Bookings can be made by contacting Maree at chaples@xtra.co.nz  Tickets are also on sale at Caluzzi, DJ Station and Dot's. From each ticket sold, $5.00 will go to Body Positive. Guests will receive a complimentary cocktail, or juice, on arrival, as well as snacks and nibbles throughout the evening. There will also be a cash bar available. WIGS ON THE WATERFRONT- 7pm.
