Auckland's grand old St. Matthews-in-the-City church will play host to a major Masquerade Ball fundraiser for the Cartier Bereavement Charitable Trust this November, its Trustees have confirmed. "It'll be a night to remember," Cartier founder and Trustee Karen Ritchie tells GayNZ.com. "We're sure you'll agree St Matthew is a perfect venue for a Masquerade Ball, with its stunning and classic architecture. "The Ball will be held on Saturday 27 November, to coincide with World Aids Day. We have a lot of work to do over the next few months but promise to keep you informed." The much-respected Cartier Trust helps to fund funerals for New Zealanders who die of HIV-related illness. Its major Drag Bingo fundraiser at Hopetoun Alpha last June raised $7,032, and it donated $4,000 towards funeral costs through 2009, and also gave four-figure sums to OUTLine NZ, Rainbow Youth and the team preserving the AIDS Memorial Quilt. St. Matthew-in-the-City in central Auckland is an inclusive church which holds an LGBT community service every Sunday from 7.30pm. The people of Cartier The Cartier Trust must starts 2010 by acknowledging its departing Trustees, says Ritchie. "Damien Moore has resigned from the Trust as he now resides in Picton. He was a valuable Trustee from 2007 to 2009 and helped the Trust accomplish many achievements. We thank him and wish him well for the future," she says. "Richard James has been the Trust's accountant since inception. He has taken an extended overseas break, and we thank Richard for his long term service and support towards the Trust. We are yet to meet and have a discussion with the accountant that has taken over Richard's clients. "Paul Heaslip is no longer our official lawyer as he has taken up his Barrister role full time, but we are thrilled to announce Paul is now on our Board of Trustees. Paul has also been with the Trust since its inception and we thank him for his personal and legal expertise over the years. We now look forward to working with Paul on a different level," she adds. "Aaron Martin is now the Trust's new Lawyer we welcome you on board and thank you Aaron."
