GABA monthly meets move to Dot's bar

The year's first Gay Auckland Business Association monthly meeting will be in its new home - the friendly gay-owned bar Dot's on Symonds Street. A warm welcome: Comfy couches at Dot's bar GABA met for monthly social drinks at the Urban Cafe in Newmarket throughout 2009, but its President Gavin Hyde says each new year should be a new start for the popular LGBT business network. "Thanks to Jono and the crew at Urban Cafe for the tremendous support they provided over all of 2009," he says. "2010 promises to be the year of economic recovery and renewal - and alreadt the GABA executive have been busy preparing a range of events and meetings to promote our businesses and social prospects." Takataapui showman Mika will chat about his upcoming Aroha Festival, and there will also be information updates about Auckland's other LGBT events like the Big Gay Out, the OurFest Awards night and Bear's Week when GABA meets this Wednesday 3 February from 5:30pm at Dot's. GABA will also host its annual VIP Hospitality Marquee - complete with a fully-stocked bar and cooling fans - at the Big Gay Out in Coyle Park on Sunday 14 February.
