UK gays: 22% claim they've had celeb sex

Sun 27 Sep 2009 In: International News View at NDHA

A survey by MTV has found that almost a quarter of British gays and lesbians claim they've had sex with someone famous. The study of 4,000 people - carried out in the run-up to new show Sex Degrees of Separation - suggests 22% had slept with a celeb, and that one in three would have sex with a well-known person just because they were famous. "We might be in awe of celebrities, but we should never forget that it's a really small world when it comes to sex, and many people are more intimately linked than you might think," said an MTV spokesperson. Looking at the general British population, only one in twenty claimed they'd bedded a celebrity - so being gay means you're around 17% more likely to have shagged a star. The study also found that 80% have had unprotected sex, but only 38% said they'd had a sexual health check-up.
