Sing for drinks at K' Road's Kamo bar

Thu 7 May 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Karaoke at K' Road's gay-owned bar/café Kamo is popular each Thursday and Saturday night, but now there's more incentive to grab the mike and belt out a song. $20 bar tabs will now be randomly given out on Karaoke nights, says Kamo co-owner Loren Boothby. "All you need to do to be in to win is to pluck up the courage to sing a song," he tells GayNZ.com. "There's no competing and no need for a fancy costume. You can be tone deaf and still in for a prize. Every singer is in for a chance to win a $20 bar tab for themselves and their mates." Kamo, at 382 K' Road, also hosts monthly Bear nights, fortnightly Rainbow Youth social groups and GayNZ.com's monthly Forum Meet-Ups. There is a dinner menu until 10pm and bar snacks are always available.
