A collection of local hunks are meeting and greeting Auckland's LGBT community at Pride '09 Festival events ahead of the first Mister Pacifique New Zealand male model competition. Modelling talent: Mister Pacifique guys at the Big Gay Out The guys were popular at Sunday's Big Gay Out, with lots of attendees getting their photos taken with them. They'll also be escorting singing star Cindy of Samoa onto the stage at the Hero Party on Friday 20 February and Wigs on the Waterfront on Sunday 22 February. "New Zealand's got some of the most stylish and hottest men on the planet, and Mister Pacifique New Zealand is all about finding talent, fitness, healthy living, modeling ability, and fashion runway style," explains organiser Peter Tamasese. "This competition gives the candidates confidence and the opportunity to perform live in front of an excited audience and talent scouts." The competition began in Samoa in 2007. Over a dozen contestants from all over the Asia Pacific region have entered the first Kiwi pageant, which Tamasese hopes will go international in 2011. Places are still available for more entrants: "MNZP is open to all our Euro and Ethnic communities as long they are a New Zealand citizen or Pacific Resident. "As part of LGBT family myself, my respect goes out to the support the community is giving us. Auckland's people are always keen to see and to experience something new," adds Tamasese. The Mister Pacifique New Zealand show is planned for Ellerslie's Novotel Hotel on Wednesday 18 March. Tickets cost $85 and include dinner - email misternzpacifique@gmail.com for more details.
