The next episode of Maori Television's LGBT programme Takataapui will be broadcast at 9:30pm on Monday 25 August: Hinemoana Baker This programme is the story of two people, Hinemoana Baker and Sandra Dickson who are confident in their skin as bisexual women. There are many myths about bisexual people: "They are confused", "They are responsible for the spread of HIV and AIDS", and "They are greedy!" Baker and Dickson respond to the myths and stereotypes and talk about living in a world where most people see human sexuality as either gay or straight and no in between. Sandra Dickson: "For some older lesbians I think there's that whole thing about having fought really hard for the rights that queer people have now, and feeling that bisexuality some how really muddies that. My answer to that is that some bisexual women have fought really hard for some of those rights too – my self included actually." Hinemoana Baker: "Very few things in life are black and white. And the real good oil is about exploring the bits in between the grey areas. Saying straight and gay are the only two options is the same is saying your either just Maori or just Pakeha in this country. Or saying you're either a New Zealander or an immigrant, for example. Those boxes just don't fit anymore, and I don't think it they ever have. We are actually lucky in this country to be safe to have this conversation – so let's make the most of it. "Don't exclude people and relationships from you life because of the dumb polarities that don't make any sense." Takataapui is broadcast on Maori Television each Monday night at 9:30pm, then repeats on Freeview's Stratos channel at 10pm. Takataapui TV - 19th August 2008
