AKL: Urge bar auctions leather gear tonight

Fri 11 Jul 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News

The late gay GP Matt Wildbore's collection of leather gear will be auctioned and raffled off tonight at K' Road's Urge bar, to raise funds for HIV+ people's support network Body Positive. The fundraiser begins at 11:30pm tonight as part of the bar's inaugural Mr. Urge Leather NZ 2008 contest. Over $1,000 worth of prizes of goods and services are available for contestants and raffle prizes. The winner gets return flights to Melbourne's Leather Pride Festival in September, a $250 Dungeon Leather Warehouse voucher and Basement and Video Expo prizes. "All contestants receive something," say the bar bears. Respected gay doctor Matt Wildbore, who assisted more HIV positive gay men than any other GP in the early days of the HIV epidemic, died last month.
