Takataapui TV: Sistergirl

Tue 17 Jun 2008 In: Worth Checking Out View at Wayback View at NDHA

This episode of Maori Television's LGBT documentary programme Takataapui, which was scheduled for Monday 23 June, will now be broadcast at 9:30pm on Monday 30 June: Kooncha Brown is a sistergirl, a male-to-female Aboriginal transsexual. She was born at a time when Aboriginal Australians were classified under the Flora and Fauna Act; her journey from this place to being ‘allowed' to be a confident, educated at tertiary level and articulate advocate for sistergirl rights has seen several milestones which have much in common with whakawahine in Aotearoa. This is her story. Takataapui is broadcast on Maori Television each Monday night at 9:30pm, then repeats on digital channel Freeview Stratos at 10pm. Takataapui TV - 17th June 2008
