Takataapui TV: Hand in Hand

Wed 4 Jun 2008 In: Worth Checking Out View at Wayback View at NDHA

The next episode of Maori Television's LGBT documentary programme Takataapui will be broadcast at 9:30pm on Monday 9 June: Part of Sydney's Mardi Gras celebrations, and a collaboration of artists from seven different Pacific nations, Hand in Hand is a truly unique art exhibition. All the artists are indigenous and queer, and have been brought together at Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative in Sydney to celebrate the uniqueness of their artwork. Tied by whakapapa, and sharing similar oppression and shame associated with colonisation, their art and their approach to it reveals their lives as contemporary indigenous people. Takataapui is broadcast on Maori Television each Monday night at 9:30pm, then repeats on Freeview's Stratos channel at 10pm. Takataapui TV - 4th June 2008
