Wellington's NZAF open for discussions

Sun 27 Apr 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The NZ AIDS Foundation's volunteers, users, supporters and all interested people in Wellington are welcome to join in discussions this Wednesday evening at the Awhina Centre's Community Forum. Billed as 'a local forum for local people', the evening of talks is an opportunity to find out more about - and give feedback on - the NZAF's work fighting HIV/AIDS in Wellington and around New Zealand. A similar forum in Auckland in September last year had a small turnout of only twenty people, but the conversation touched on several important issues affecting New Zealand's gay and bisexual men. Recent local and international HIV/AIDS statistics were presented, and reasons for gay men's high rates of HIV infections discussed. NZAF Director Rachael Le Mesurier described the forum as "constructive and helpful" to the Foundation. The Awhina Centre's Community Forum will be held at St. John's Conference Centre - on the corner of Dixon and Willis Streets this Wednesday evening 30 April 2008. Refreshments will be served at 5:30pm, with discussions from 6 thought to 8pm. RSVPs are appreciated on 04 381 6640 or contact.awhina@nzaf.org.nz.
