Miss Gloriousole - the resident drag queen hostess at Hamilton gay nightclub Venom - has announced she's now on the lookout for contestants for their Mr. Gay Hamilton contest later this month. "The competition takes a quite different turn," the Waikato queen declares. "The contestants won't know who the judges are. "We'll run it as three shows, one each hour from 11.30pm until 2.30am. A resident drag queen will work with the contestants. Contestants will be judged on confidence on stage, most social, most effective communicator, best 'eye candy', and more. "But most importantly, the winner should reflect the best personality during club time," advises Glouriousole. The Venom hostess must now find Hamilton's finest gay guys to compete in the show, a task she takes very seriously: "The work of this working diva can be at times stressful but the joy from the customers is reward in itself," she enthuses. This year, the Mr. Gay Hamilton competition replaces 'Mr. Gay Waikato' which for 15 years was an annual event in conjunction with Miss Fountain City at the Next Door Bar in Frankton. Next Door Bar management say they plan to revive the Mr. Gay Waikato pageant in 2008. Mr. Gay Hamilton 2007 will be found at Venom nightclub, 161 Victoria Street Hamilton, on Saturday 25th August.
