Auckland drag performer dies in Sydney

Tue 31 Oct 2006 In: New Zealand Daily News

‘Bustop', a well-known drag queen on the Auckland circuit in the mid ‘90's, has died in Sydney last weekend after a struggle with cancer. The trio of ‘Buckwheat, Bustop and Bertha' were K' Road mainstays and their frequent charity performances raised money for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Edward Cowley, AKA Buckwheat, is in Sydney now and attended his old friend's funeral today. GayNZ.com will feature an obituary of Bustop later this week. In the meantime, if you have memories of Bustop, please contribute them to our messageboards.     Ref: GayNZ.com (m)
