Disgraced Christian ex-politician Graham Capill could face up to twenty years jail after pleading guilty to further child sex charges which span a decade – almost the entire tenure of his leadership of the Christian Heritage Party, during which he repeatedly linked homosexuality with paedophilia. The new charges involve rape, unlawful sexual connection, and three separate charges of indecent assault on young girls. The Christchurch District Court this morning heard from two complainants, one of which recounted how she was repeatedly abused by Capill from the age of five, and how he would often disguise his actions by pretending to playfight. She said when she turned 12, she became strong enough to resist his advances. Similar evidence was heard from the second complainant, who recounted how Capill sometimes apologised afterwards. On one occasion she told him, "You have got a wife, why don't you go to her". Capill has been remanded in custody for sentencing next month.
