Wellington Gay Welfare Group honoured

Thu 2 Oct 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

Wellington's gay switchboard has received a commendation in the 2003 Wellington City Community Awards, presented last Tuesday by Wellington City Mayor Kerry Prendergast at the council chambers. The switchboard service is run by 40 volunteers, who have answered 3500 calls over the past year from gay, bisexual or questioning men. The switchboard is part of the Wellington Gay Welfare Group who run social and coming out groups like Newcomers and Icebreakers, and support services like School's Out and Parents of Gays and Lesbians.
