Destiny Television investigated

Fri 15 Aug 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

TVNZ is to launch an inquiry into the fundamentalist broadcast Destiny Television, following complaints from viewers. In last Wednesday's broadcast Brian Tamaki, pastor of the Destiny Church, said that prostitution reform was instigated by a “sinister spirit of homosexuality” embodied by MPs Tim Barnett and Georgina Beyer, who were specifically singled out for their gay and transgender status respectively. He went on to say that the Human Rights Act had opened the door for “sexual perversions” like homosexuality and that members of the public who voted for Barnett or Beyer were responsible for “opening the floodgates of sexual perversion”.
