League players 'cocaine incident' outside gay club

Sun 7 May 2017 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The two New Zealand rugby league players facing charges after being caught allegedly snorting cocaine in Canberra were doing so outside a central city gay nightclub. Kiwis captain Jesse Bromwich and team member Kevin Proctor are alleged to have snorted the illicit drug outside the Cube nightclub in Canberra's city centre. Apparently police have observed the pair on CCTV accepting the drug from a local man who prepared it on his cellphone. The Visit Canberra website describes Cube as Canberra's premier gay and lesbian nightclub featuring regular drag shows. Bromwich and Proctor had been in the Australian capital to play the annual Anzac Test against the Kangaroos, which the Kiwis resoundingly lost. The local man has been charged in connection with the incident, police are still investigating Bromwich and Proctor.
