With such a mixed bag of events this year at the Auckland Pride Festival, we bring you a grab-bag of sorts - a run-down of a few of the events that may have got lost in the noise and are worth checking out!   Sea Change There is no doubt that this performance will be anything less than breathtaking. The award-winning Wet Hot Beauties bring you a water ballet at the Parnell Baths with more than 80 water ballerinas exploring through dance, the role women play in today’s society. A body-positive water ballet company that celebrates girl power, this will be a dazzling show! Tuesday 21 - Sunday 26 February, 9pm Parnell Baths Share the Love Whether you are single or happily taken, if you are looking for something to do this Valentine’s Day you may want to consider heading to Garnet Station for a special evening of cocktails and indulgent food. With love letters and fairy lights strung up to set the scene and smoked salmon among the treats on offer, be sure to book yourself a table for a loved-up night out. Tuesday 14 February, 6.30 -10pm Garnet Station TAMS Swimmers The Team Auckland Master Swimmers are taking to the water for a social relay race and you’re invited to partake. Grab your togs and start practicing your form, head down to the Tepid Baths to get in on the action and join the TAMS for drinks and food after the race. Thursday 16 February, 7pm Tepid Baths   Benjamin Law: Adventures in Queer Asia As part of the Same Same But Different writers festival, Benjamin Law will be commenting on change, difference, acceptance and storytelling from his perspective as a queer Asian man. Author of Gaysia - Adventures in Queer Asia, Benjamin has traveled extensively throughout Asia, exploring what it means to be queer and chronicling his journeys. Saturday 18 February, 11am AUT University, Sir Paul Reeves Building, Room WG126 Courtney Act For on night only, and performing in New Zealand for the very first time, Courtney Act is bringing her brand new show The Girl From Oz to the Auckland Pride Festival. You may have seen her on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, or tuned in for Australian Idol but you haven’t seen anything yet. Courtney Act is bringing you a show full of hits, including from Kylie, Men at Work, Sia and AC/DC. Friday 24 February, 8pm Q Theatre   We Don’t Have to be the Building Intimacy Stages/ Active Empathy Artist Sian Torrington is commemorating 30 years since Homosexual Law Reform with an exhibition that looks at the past, present and future of queer female sexualities and activism. Lesbian, bisexual, queer, female, butch, takatāpui, wahine, trans* and female-identified people are also invited to participate in the project, with Sian offering to draw whatever the participants offer.
