Ten finalists have been selected to compete for the title of Mr Gay New Zealand Auckland’s LYC Big Gay Out. Candidates are chosen for their leadership skills, ability to relate, communication skills and level of engagement with the wider LGBTI communities. A competition but not a beauty pageant, physical attributes are not assessed in the competition. Members of the public can cast their vote online once a day to support their favourite and the person they see as best representing the community. The finalists range from 18 to 33 years of age, with most residing in the North Island. They include a topless waiter, interior designer, circus performer. bartender and nursing student. The competitor who takes out the title of Mr Gay New Zealand will then to Spain to compete in the global competition later this year. Click here to cast your vote.
