Guys kissing on BBC Christmas ad gets thumbs up

Thu 8 Dec 2016 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

A BBC promotional ad for Christmas featuring a gay couple kissing under the mistletoe has been generally well-received, according to the British gay media. The ad, over a minute long and featuring on the BBC's most popular TV channel, BBC One, also features several racially diverse couples. However, a few negative comments in social media have objected to "over-representation of same-sex and interracial relationships they have been quickly countered. In response comments have been made such as “I understand that some people hate the 'forced political correctness' but people need to understand that representation seems forced because we are not used to it, so it feels jarring. Give it time, and representation won’t have to seem forced, and we will barely bat an eyelid at two men kissing. I can’t wait for that time to arrive.” Another person wrote: “It’s not political correctness. It’s just real life. It’s a nice festive trailer.” The ad can be viewed here.
