The Proud to Play sports festival opening ceremony this Saturday is going through final preparations and its organisers are hoping glbti people turn out in froce for the event.   Organiser of the Auckland LGBTI sport tournament Proud to Play, Craig Watson, says, “The opening ceremony is going to be a fantastic event for all ages and families. “We want to encourage the whole community to come down and support their friend and family and help to welcome our international guests to Auckland.” With everything organised and ready to roll, a massive 60 percent of the athletes will soon be making their way from outside New Zealand, with participants flying in from as far away as Cambodia, France, Germany, USA, Nicaragua and Australia. Steven Oates will MC the event and Rainbow Labour MP Louisa Wall will be joined by Auckland Mayor Len Brown and guests to declare the games open. Members of GALS will perform the national anthem during the ceremony to be held at Silo Park. Proud to Play Opening Ceremony Silo Park, Auckland Waterfront Saturday 13 February, 3.30pm
