Mon 23 Nov 2015 In: International News View at Wayback

A new app aims to revolutionise trans healthcare and help to connect trans people with trans-friendly doctors in the US. The soon to be launched app, MyTransHealth, tracks user-generated reviews and connects trans people with “qualified, understanding doctors in [their] neighborhood”. Recognising the major barriers faced by trans people when seeking healthcare, the crowdsourced not-for-profit startup plans to simplify this process, allowing everyone to access knowledgeable and respectful healthcare providers. App designer Robyn Kanner was inspired to create the app after struggling to find a trans-friendly doctors herself, she told The Daily Dot: “We built four different categories into MyTransHealth: medical, legal, mental health, and crisis.  “And once you delve into those categories you can still filter down through different needs, like wheelchair accessibility, insurance coverage, or language. In Miami, for example, there’s a huge need for Spanish-speaking providers that are also skilled to serve transgender people.” Check out Robyn's story below.
