A gay Princeton football player's story

Thu 17 Sep 2015 In: Worth Checking Out View at Wayback View at NDHA

Princeton offensive lineman Mason Darrow is the latest US college athlete to come out. He decided to go public to empower others. He first came out to a teammate in 2013 and says it was a huge relief. "Telling my teammates was the best decision I have ever made," Darrow has told Outsports. He;d felt he had to pose as a straight guy to fit in with football culture. "I felt like I had to keep appearances up," Darrow said. "I didn't want to arouse suspicion that I might be gay, so I went along with the flow and did what I thought was expected of me." His teammates have been extremely supportive.
