The 30 Project: Part 2

Thu 9 Jul 2015 In: HIV View at Wayback View at NDHA

The New Zealand AIDS Foundation has released the second episode of the 30 Project, to mark its 30th anniversary commemorations. Part two spans the decade from 1995 to 2005. Over the last several months, the NZAF has been working with Julian Cook and Zoomslide to produce the series. Archived film and video footage, photography and safe sex campaign materials have been made into three films, each chronicling a ten year period. Director David Herkt has edited the new digital resource into stories that provide the viewer with a visceral insight into New Zealand’s response to the AIDS epidemic. The second episode spans the decade of 1995 to 2005. AIDS deaths peaked and then fell sharply as new HIV treatments meant a new world for those with HIV/AIDS and the people involved in HIV support and prevention. Increased research, evidence and experience meant that interventions could be targeted more precisely. Education campaigns grew in sophistication to respond to a changing landscape. Vigilance could not be relaxed.  GayNZ.com staff - 9th July 2015
