Hozier heading to NZ for November show

Thu 7 May 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News

Irish musician Hozier, whose breakout track takes on homophobia and bigotry, will play in New Zealand for the first time in November. The 25-year-old from County Wicklow has made it big on the global stage thanks to smash hit Take Me To Church. The powerful song is about loving whoever you love in the face of bigotry, with the artist explaining “sexuality, and sexual orientation - regardless of orientation - is just natural.” The accompanying video is a statement against oppression and homophobia. The musician told The Cut “to me, it's not even a gay issue or a civil rights issue, it's a human rights issue, and it should offend us all. It's just simple. Either somebody has equal rights, or they don't.” Hozier will play at Auckland’s Vector Arena on 5 November 2015. Tickets go on sale next Wednesday from Ticketmaster.
