Thu 12 Feb 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at NDHA

Len Brown at last year's Auckland Pride Parade A proposal for a Rainbow Advisory Panel for Auckland Council is set to go before the Community Development and Safety Committee this month. Auckland Mayor Len Brown first proposed the idea at last year’s Big Gay Out. Since then, a proposal has been created by the Rainbow Door group, which acts as a buffer between the Council and the lgbti community. It’s now set to go before the Community Development and Safety Committee. A statement to GayNZ.com Daily News from Len Brown’s staff, says the Mayor continues to be a strong supporter of rainbow community representation. It says the discussion around the best mechanism for that is continuing. “Now that the Council has feedback from the community, via Rainbow Door, council staff are working through that and will present options to the councillors, in the first instance to the Community Development and Safety Committee later this month.” We'll have more about the panel proposal soon.
