Out in the Square moving to new home

They say Civic Square has become too small for the annual glbti fair. The crew behind the event are running a competition on their Facebook page, called “Out in the Where”, challenging people to guess where it will be. The most common guess is Waitangi Park, a popular waterfront spot. The event’s organisers have announced the date for 2015 – it will be on Valentine’s Day. The annual fair day began in Newtown in 1986 as the Gay and Lesbian Fair. It was set up to raise awareness and build support for Homosexual Law Reform. Today it’s about all communities being able to come together and celebrate diversity being visible.
