A hui looking at smoking in the takatāpui community has been postponed. It was being organised by the team behind WERO, a three-month competition which puts people in teams with a goal to stop smoking for three months, raising money for community groups along the way. WERO was developed by researchers at Auckland University and its pilot had a quit rate at three months of 36 per cent, which exceeded expectations. The group was to run a hui at Auckland University’s Tamaki campus on Thursday looking at whether lgbti smoking prevalence is still an issue and what is happening to reduce lgbti smoking rates. We'll have more info when a new date is announced.
