NZDF Overwatch members and supporters at today's Big Gay Out The early morning clouds have parted and Auckland's Coyle Park is a hive of activity as stallholders make last minute adjustments, sound checks are done and the first of the glbti public arrive and settle in. New Zealand's biggest glbti event, the LYC Big Gay Out is a mass of food stands, entertainment areas and community organisation stalls, including sports, support and social groups. Political parties such as the Greens and Labour are in place and there is a strong showing from tertiary institutions. A first this year is the NZ Defence Force which has a massive truck with staff available to discuss the Forces as a place for glbti people. Most of the people staffing the stand are from the Overwatch gay forces group. Parking is already banking back as far as Te Ra Road on Pt Chevalier Road and side streets are filling fast. Parking wardens are out on force issuing tickets for such infringements as parking too close to fire hydrants and for cars overlapping residential driveways. GayNZ.com will report live from the heat and bustle of the LYC Big Gay Out as the afternoon unfolds.
