Glitz, glam and fab items ready for auction

From art and holidays to a walk on role on Shortland St, a wide-range of auction items will go under the hammer at GABA’s fundraising auction in Auckland on Sunday. Ross Watson's Untitled The Gay Auckland Business Association Charitable Auction will also be a chance for the community to farewell US Ambassador David Huebner and his spouse Dr Duane McWaine, who are nearing the end of their tenure. Organisers have given us a rundown of some of the items up for auction: The auction catalogue features works by artists including Ross Watson, Te Mete, Katherine Simpson, Graeme Hitchcock, Fran Marno, Miriam Saphira and Keith Townshend. Standout pieces include a large work by popular Australian painter Ross Watson, donated by Murray Smallfield; and a very special rainbow-tinted print series, donated by Louisa Wall MP and contemporary Māori artist Te Mete. The Skoda Octavia Car lovers are well catered for among this year’s lots, with an new Ford Kuga to drive around Auckland for one month, courtesy of John Andrew Ford; weekend experiences in the Škoda Yeti SUV and Škoda Octavia vRS, courtesy of Giltrap Škoda; $1,000 worth of Michelin tyres from Grey Lynn Tyreworx; and a one year service package from Mayne Automotive, valued at $500. Unique experiences going under the hammer include a walk-on-role experience for two people on Shortland Street; a walk-and-talk garden consultation with Tony Murrell; plus wining and dining experiences with Auckland Central MP Nikki Kaye at SPQR and Labour’s Maryan Street at the Ponsonby Road Bistro. Exclusive event tickets include a unique 2014 Auckland Pride Festival AAA Pass that grants entry to next year’s Auckland Pride Gala, the GABA GlamStand at the Auckland Pride Parade and the PROUD Party, plus one extra ticketed event of the winner’s choice. There’s also a VIP Double Pass to two upcoming concerts by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, including pre-concert and interval hospitality with APO VIPs. Villa Mimpi in Bali The evening’s glamour travel lot is a heavenly 14-night stay at a private and secluded two-bedroom villa with pool in Bali, including daily cleaning service and airport transfers, donated by former GABA President Glenn Sims. As The Langham requires advance notification of final catering numbers, tickets must be purchased in person, or ordered online, by no later than 5pm this Thursday 17 October.
