File Photo Single New Zealanders have been banned from adopting Russian children because of New Zealand’s marriage equality laws. Along with banning gay couples from adopting, Russia has also prevented single people in nations that allow same-sex marriage from becoming adoptive parents or legal guardians of Russian children. A Kremlin statement said the measure is intended to guarantee children a "harmonious" upbringing and protect them from "complexes, emotional suffering and stress." In all, 14 countries are impacted by the law, which followed the passage of Russia’s anti ‘gay propaganda bill’.
