Tui mocks ‘dad’s new husband’ in billboard

Wed 24 Apr 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Reaction has been swift to a new Tui billboard which says “Dad’s new husband seems nice … yeah right.” The billboard with the infamous Tui tagline has popped up beside the Hutt Motorway: A Facebook group has already emerged calling for it to be taken down, with the page’s creator saying: “This is so wrong in so many ways! I will no longer be drinking tuis because of this! Time to take a stand and take this crap off!” There has been a mixed reaction from GayNZ.com readers, with some stating they believe it’s amusing and “fun”, and others finding it offensive, narrow minded or “shameful”. “Dad's new husband isn't nice because he is FFFABULOUSS,” responds Cindy Drofhsa, while Laura Dalley says “It's all good we all know what the Tui billboards are like! They're not hurting anyone.” Shane Beveridge says “I think it's in bad taste.......ironic really, I can't stand the taste of Tui myself!” Danny Dillen tweets: “Same as saying "Dad's new wife seems nice." Pisstake on the step-mum/dad thing. Peeps need to chill a bit.” What do you think? Offensive or funny? Discuss it on our forum here, Facebook here or Twitter here
