Rapper Pope Bron A performer at this afternoon's Get It On Big Gay Out event has shocked many of those watching the main stage entertainment with his sexually explicit gangster-style lyrics and references to "faggots." Gay rapper Pope Brons' rhymes included phrases such as "20 bitches on my dick, 20 bitches on my shit" and he repeatedly used the word "faggot." During his performance many people walked away from the stage area and those who remained were generally disbelieving and offended. West Auckland mother Jane, 43, says the lyrics were inappropriate and questions whether the acts were pre-checked. "This event is billed as family-friendly and while I am not a prude that was just unnecessarily crude and not particularly clever either," she told a GayNZ.com Daily News reporter amongst the audience. A gay man, Ric, was startled to hear the word faggot repeatedly boom out from the at times incomprehensible lyrics. "That was just rubbish," he said. "Why would he say 'faggot' at a gay event? Is he gay?" When advised that the rapper is apparently gay he countered: "What the hell was that then?" Another gay man commented" "Sorry I can't hear you, my ears are crying."  A spokesperson for the NZ AIDS Foundation, which runs the annual event under it's Get It On brand, was unable to comment immediately but said he would look into the matter.
