"It wasn't because they were gay," bar claims

Tue 24 Apr 2012 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

A Wellington bar owner claims a lesbian couple was thrown out because they became ‘too amorous’, not because they were gay. Rebekah Galbraith says a bouncer asked her and her girlfriend to leave after seeing them kiss on Saturday night. She says he then admitted targeting them because they were gay. Bar owner Gina Mills says they were not excluded because of their sexuality. "They were asked to leave because they became quite aggressive when they were asked to 'tone it down'. They were in the bar at 2.45 or 2.50 in the morning, sitting on top of our table behaving inappropriately." The couple remains adamant it was thrown out because of the kiss.
