One accused admits gay man's murder

A 21-year-old man has admitted murdering gay Polish man Roman Skorek in Rotorua’s Kuirau Park in January. Rawiri James Samuel, 21, entered a guilty plea when he appeared in Rotorua District Court today, Fairfax reports. He was remanded in custody for sentence on May 15. Sixty four-year-old Skorek's body was found in the park on 23 January. Simon Herewini, 20, and two youths, aged 15 and 14, have also been charged with his murder. They have not yet pleaded to the charge.
