Dr von Dannevill
Title:Dr von Dannevill October 1914 - June 1917
Description:Dr Hjelman von Danneville was investigated and interned on Matiu Somes Island in 1917. The Solicitor-General stated: "there is grave ground for suspicion that this person is a mischievous and dangerous imposter [] There is much reason to suspect that she may be a man masquerading as a woman". After 6-weeks on the island she had a "severe nervous breakdown" and was transported back to the mainland. In November 1919 she departed New Zealand for Australia. [source: http://ww100.govt.nz.
