Text:The capital's two-week Proud 2010 Festival starts this weekend with the city's most popular annual LGBT event and the biggest gay party it's seen in years. The traditionally popular festival is bigger and features more events than ever before, including film screenings, a pool party, drag aerobics and much more. Here's the full schedule, proving that there's something during Proud 2010 for everyone... Out in the Square 11am - 5pm, Saturday 23 January Out in the Square is Wellington's annual gay and lesbian fair, this year celebrating its 25th anniversary. The day will be officially opened by the Mayor at 11am and features a fantastic line up of performers and games to keep you entertained. We have loads of food stalls booked - everything from gelato to whitebait patties to Thai noodles to hotdogs - and coffee. You'll also find jewelry, art, crafts, books, and myriad other items. Join the fun at Civic Square in the heart of Wellington from 11am. The rain date is Sunday 24 January - will let you know early in the morning if the event will be postponed due to weather. LAGANZ History Walk 3pm - 5:30pm, Saturday 23 January Almost every block of inner-Wellington has a site where lesbians formed relationships and founded women's organisations, gay men met for clandestine sex - or one was murdered - and both gathered to change laws. The walk takes around 90 minutes and is led by Lesbian new perfume. Get It On's Test the Queer Nation at Club Ivy will feature special safe sex and 'Fag Hag' fragrance rounds. Codeine Like Candy single release party 9pm - 1am, Wednesday 27 January Codeine Like Candy A special night to launch Codeine like Candy's new single 'Chainsaw' will include a burlesque dancing performance! Join the party at the San Francisco Bath House in Cuba Street, entry is just $5. Check out for more details on the band. Safe But Weird Sex Workshop 6pm - 7:30pm, Thursday 28 January This free workshop explores some of the less-talked-about sex play that same sex couples sometimes indulge in. Join them at the Awhina Centre on Willis St, bring your questions and share your fantasies and experiences. Places are limited, so RSVP to Queer Idol 9pm onwards, Thursday 28 January Join hosts Aaron and Andy at Club K on Dixon Street as they search for Wellington's next Queer Idol! Guava Gay Out From 5pm, Friday 29 January The Guava Tree on Ghuznee Street is Wellington's one-stop shop for Indian home accessories and gifts.
