Text:United Future leader Peter Dunne has truly nailed his colours to the mast in an opinion piece in the New Zealand Herald, in which he slams gay marriages, the gay-friendly Care of Children bill, and accuses the government of “pink-think”. "Society has progressed to a stage where we are tolerant of alternative lifestyles, as long as they remain private affairs,” says Dunne. In a statement which seems to ignore gay and lesbian voters, Dunne says “people” could quite rightly ask why the Civil Union bill is being introduced ahead of “measures that could have a demonstrable impact on their lives”. Dunne says that the government is prioritising “political correctness” over political reality, and that Labour wants to change the way New Zealanders think.
