Text:Auckland’s LGBTI nightlife institution, Family Bar, is celebrating its eleventh birthday this weekend with a birthday spectacular. You may want to save some of your energy this weekend when you’re out on the town because you won’t want to miss the celebrations at Family when Sunday rolls around. Your host for the evening and drag queen extraordinaire Miss Ribena says the birthday spectacular is celebrating "eleven years of keeping Krd, gay road and covered in a rainbow". Special guest DJ Jordan Eskra will be spinning the decks all night so you know you’ll be dancing till the wee hours. It wouldn’t be a Family celebration without some fabulous drag shows and with 17 shows throughout the evening, they’ve definitely outdone themselves this year. There’ll be karaoke at Saloon from 8pm and the Secret Garden Bar is open from 7pm but if you’re still in bed from the night before in the early evening, night-owls will be pleased to know things will be pumping until 4am - so plenty of time to get out the door. Hosted by Miss Ribena, Lady Trenyce, Stella Callisto, Devine Miss K and Miss Kola Gin, expect a raucous night out. Free entry, the festivities kick off at 6pm. - 11th August 2016
